23rd Street

Last week I took a walk around Union Square. It was one of those stunning Winter days without a cloud in the sky. I've always loved the Flat Iron building. For me, it's quintessential New York. So, I wanted to shoot it, hopefully, in an interesting way. The idea for the shot revealed itself as I was walking towards the building, there it was just peeking out in front of the neighboring building.

I've always loved The Coffee Shop. I hadn't been there in years, but couldn't resist photographing the awesome neon sign out the front. I was actually sitting in The Coffee Shop on the morning of September 11th all those years ago, and it was on the television on the wall where I saw the first plane hit the World Trade Center.
